New Year’s Eve 2019 Washington DC River Cruise

[December 31, 2019 Alexandria, VA, US]

Déjà vu? Not quite. Yes, it’s on the same ship, the Cherry Blossom paddle-wheel, yes, from the Port of Alexandria, VA (no, not Egypt, bummer). But this year, it’s not rainy and it’s not foggy, so the skies are clear and the fireworks ought to great!

We do have a different food/drink catere4 than last year (well, I think they are different) so I noticed the food selection was not as robust. But the drink, they were fine 🙂

To recap: The paddle boat, the Cherry Blossom, is open to a public cruise only twice a year – New Year’s Eve and July 4th. So, if I am in DC on the 4th, this boat may be the best place to be to avoid the crowds!

Endless Night 2019 at New Orleans House of Blues

[25-27 October, 2019, New Orleans, LA, US]

The Vampire Ball at the House of Blues thrown by the Endless Night krewe has come to another end in New Orleans. This is my fourth Endless Night in New Orleans (one in New York). I usually go for the Friday and Saturday night events and fly back on Sunday; however, I decided to do the Sunday night dinner and the gathering. Sunday was more conducive to talking with people as the music wasn’t blaring at maximum 🙂 Plus the food was great at the House of Blues New Orleans. I forgot to take pictures of the food – sorry about that…

So here are the pictures, click on the pic below or on the link:

GLOW at the Triangle L Ranch 12-OCT-2019 in Oracle, AZ

[14 October, 2019, Oracle, AZ, US]

Visited my dad, uncles, aunts and more in Oracle, AZ from the 10th to the 14th of October in Oracle. Went to GLOW, which is held by the Triangle L Ranch.com every year in the fall.

The event features artwork of all kinds dotted along multiple paths in the desert all within the Triangle L Ranch. There are several spots that have musicians playing esoteric music. There is also food and non-alcoholic drinks for sale at the event. It used to be one night a year but it got so crowded, it was split into four event days (with different themes) with limited tickets, so that you don’t get stuck in a huge swaths of people, making it more enjoyable to stroll from point to point. Abbey Road Studios 50th Anniversary “Abbey Road” Release Party

[26-Sep-2019 Abbey Road Studios, Westminster, UK ]

Time for something crazy. Went to London to attend a two hour event. Okay, it was in Abbey Road Studios to listen to The Beatles’ Abbey Road album – with wine and food on @6th of September, one day before the international release of the remastered album (vinyl records and CDs). Thanks to Hilton Honors for throwing this gala event. It was inside Abbey Road Studios. No pictures in the hallways! But we were allowed to take pictures in the mythic Studio 2 – where The Beatles recorded about 90% of all of their songs.

so I took a ton of pictures. Oh, and I thought I was crazy. No. I met Jane at the studios – she came in from Siberia – traveling 4 days on the trans-Siberian railroad to Moscow, then flew in from there just to be at Abbey Road one day on the 26th of September! Now, that is insane dedication to The Beatles!

After the Abbey Road experience, I heard Paul and Ringo were going to show up so I stayed a bit. A “bit” equals over 5 hours! Got pictures of Peter Jackson (director of “The Lord of The Rings, etc), and then Ringo and then Paul!

Ringo Starr at Abbey Road Studios (sorry it’s fuzzy)

So, please go see all of the pictures! The images chronicles the whole trip from the plane, hotel, visiting Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross to the whole Abbey Road experience. Click on the picture below or on the link to see them all!

Dublin, Worldcon 2019, and London

[14-19 August, 2019, Dublin, IE and Worldcon 2019, plus London, UK]

Went to Dublin to attend Worldcon 2019. Oddly, I didn’t take too may pictures of Worldcon itself. I have one whopping picture of a group of three in a costume – they were part of the costume contest roaming around after the show. More pictures of traveling to and from Dublin. And going to The Brazen Head Pub (purportedly the old pub in Dublin) to raise a toast to my long gone friend, Tim Costello.

Went from DCA to ORD, then from ORD to LHR, then LHR to DUB. On the way back went from DUB to LCY (first time at that airport so I have a more photos than usual), stayed overnight at Hilton Paddington, then went from LHR to CLT (I think, or was it RDU, don’t recall) then back to DCA. Anyway, the pictures are here (click on pic or link for more):
